Frequently Asked Questions

The App Isn't Making Any Sound
If your app isn't making any sound your device is probably muted. Many apps ignore the setting of the mute switch and continue to make sound even when the device is muted, but First Sight Words and some other Learning Touch titles do not. If you unmute the device you should have your sound back. Please contact us if this doesn't solve your problem.

Restoring an App that was Accidentally Deleted
If you download the app again from the same iTunes account you won't be charged a second time by Apple. The download will be free. iTunes may ask for your password before telling you the download is free, which can be a little bit confusing but you will not be charged again.

Turning the Phonics Setting on in FirstWords Apps
You can find the phonics setting by tapping the "Options" button and looking under "Language." For apps that only feature one language, phonics can be turned on via the "Spelling" setting.

Too Few Words
If you have the language set to phonics or the maximum word length set to something lower than 8, you will see fewer words. To see all the words, you should use the "Letter Names" language setting and set the maximum word length to 8.

App Download did not Complete
If one of your App Store purchases didn't complete, you should make the purchase again from the same account. Apple will not charge you twice for an iOS app. When you try again, make sure you are at a location with a strong Internet connection. If the download fails a second time, you could try rebooting your iOS device and retrying.

General Troubleshooting
If you're having trouble with an app misbehaving, you could try some of the following steps:
  • Fully quit the app and restart it. With the new multitasking OS, when you quit an app it doesn't really quit. To really quit, double-press the home key to bring up the multitasking bar. Then press and hold down on the app icon. When the icon starts to wiggle, tap the red minus-sign in the upper left. That will fully shut down the app. At that point you can restart it and the problem will often be resolved.
  • Shutdown and restart your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
  • Delete the app from your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad and then add it back, either by syncing with iTunes or downloading it again on your device.
